SolarScape Introduction

Extensive research on Solar PV (Photovoltaics) by Drs. Neelkanth and Ramesh Dhere along with others, in the US and Brazil for over 40 years has enabled us to introduce BPIV technology to India. We at Solar scape bring this technology under the brand of Power Glass. It offers a great benefit to builders and real estate developers and helps in the reduction of environmental impact.

How does this work?

Photovoltaics can be integrated into sides of the building (facade), rooftops and for glazing/skylights ultra-thin solar cells are used to create semi-transparent surfaces to generate electricity and offer the required amount of light.

What are the key benefits?

  • A major part of the visible spectrum is used for generating electricity.
  • Laminated glass enhances the safety of the structure at the same time adding more aesthetic appeal to it than the conventional building material.
  • Robust design to handle all kinds of weather conditions.
  • CdTe cells perform better than Si at high temperatures due to its higher bandgap.
  • CdTe panels use low-E SnO2 coated glass as the base, thereby reflecting the Heat.
  • Reflects IR radiation > 1.2 mm, thereby reducing heat in the building.
  • Device stack is optimal to minimize the reflectance (~5%) in the visible range. Results in reduced glare and protects other components inside the building from unwanted solar heat.
  • Reduction in an incremental cost of photovoltaic material and improved life cycle cost.
